“Local Honey” feels like a more urgent album. Songs like “Tracks of the Train” crackle with energetic bluegrass punctuated by a fiddle and banjo. “Joanna’s” flamenco guitar lines has the band flexing new musical muscles, with the help of Riley. Ward gets to puts his lower register on display on the bouncy “My Heart.”
Throughout the album, the harmonizing between Fink and Hamilton has never been stronger (for proof, check out “Leaves”).
